Darksend Rebranding Discussion

Its been said that with V12.1 Darksend will be rebranded. While PrivacyProtect has been floated around, this may not be set in stone.

I have been thinking a lot about this issue, and I believe we should look at it from the point of view of regular users instead of crypto geeks, and trying to keep it as simple to understand as possible.

Using the example of messaging social media sites, people can send messages to each other, but when discretion is required they send a private message.

It can be the same thing with money. Send money, privately send money.

Send, PrivateSend. Easy for all to understand.

What do y'all think?

EDIT: How about PrivaSend and InstaSend? All transaction names in the same style...

EDIT2: The full words PrivateSend and InstantSend appear to be more popular. They would tie into our slogan of Private. Instant. Secure.

EDIT 3: tungfa likes InstantX and PrivateX.

I personally like it. It is super easy to understand what its function is with a name like that.

too close to InstantX i think there has to be some private in there somewhere i believe (less dark, more private) :wink:

I thought about PrivateX too, but it doesn't really convey the purpose to people not involved with building it.

I got it! How about PrivaSend, and InstaSend? Keep them all in the same style.
 
PrivateSend seems the best to me, so far. Clear and concise. And, "private" probably carries the least amount of negative connotation, compared to things like "dark" or "anonymous"
 
The more I look at PrivaSend and InstaSend, the more I like them... maybe it's just me though.

The wallet would be more streamlined using similar terms for each transaction style.

Then the transaction detail could say "PrivaSent", or "InstaSent", or both.

Funny I like something simple like Mix and Instant. Did you send your dash mixed? Did you send it instantly? Dash Mix or Dash Instant.
 
Dash Chat Slack seems to like the full words PrivateSend and InstantSend to unify the two in-wallet.

Would also tie in with the Private. Instant. Secure. slogan that we have.

I tend to agree but would not like us to rush. Once the name is changed it would likely stay. Let the community discuss this more. There must be even better name hidden somewhere and waiting for us to discover it only that I do not know it yet... :wink:
 
If you want to breakthrough the "normal" users you have to make their life easier by using terms that are something to them

"X" is nothing. To the average Joe out there X won't ever mean nothing more than a letter.

On the other side, "Send" is a word that they know and use on a daily base.

"PrivateSend" is easy to pronounce and it's pretty self explaining. I like it even more than PrivaSend: "Priva" in the latin language is related to "deprive" rather than "free" and has a negative connotation.
"InstaSend" is a good contraction of InstantSend and also "Insta" is pretty common lingo in the normal world

The acronyms are PS and IS, both easy to remember.

On a finale note, if (hopefully, when) Dash will be a much-more-common thing in everyday life, you don't want competitors to have a free shot with a better positioning using easy worlds that everybody knows while we are stuck with PrivateX that, without any hard feelings :) , means almost nothing

PrivateX is too technical and could be associated with porn.

PrivateSend and PrivacyProtect (preferred) both sound good to me. Since InstantX will be default in all wallets and is just technical backend, it will be nothing that has to be given a explicit name in Joe communication.
