You dont lose the 1000 DASH. You can get it back whenever you like, the masternode will just stop functioning. Your calculations are a bit off, but even if they werent, you're making 362 EUR/year on a 6000 EUR investment = 6% annual interest rate.

OK, sorry for the derail and thanks for answering. I agree about the indicator being confusing but the only idea I have right now is to remove the Completion bar, prioritise the Darksend balance because thats the important bit, and maybe just have some spinning indicator to show its working...

Loopback doesnt count. Its 127.0.0.1, same as on Windows and other operating systems.

Does Darksend ever combine the outputs from multiple addresses on its own? I suspect not because that would link those addresses. It would also mean: if you have addresses with only small amounts on them, then Darksend wont anonymize them, which leads to your second sentence: to get those...

Shared masternode hosting has been brought up a couple of times. I know there is already at least one service offering this. What if this was to happen on a large scale? What if people were able to participate with tiny amounts? If people could earn 11% on any amount, would they just hoard...

I agree, you can be a purist and tell people not to trust web wallets, but they'll do it anyway. Better to guide them in a reasonably safe direction.
