Updating Dash-Qt

I need to update Dash-Qt.

Do I simply download the updated version and replace the old one?
Or do I need to make a copy of my wallet.dat file and paste back into the the Dash folder?

Welcome to the forum.

Updating the Dash-Qt is as simple as downloading the new one and replacing the old one.

Nevertheless making a backup of your wallet.dat on a regular basis is always a good idea :)
 
you should always have a copy/back up of your wallet.dat

on mac
download app
install (it replace the application by itself i believe)
QT will start from your old library (no need to touch wallet.dat or download new blockchain)

start wallet and done

You might also want to watch this video and obtain your private key/keys. That way if your wallet.dat ever becomes corrupted or you lose it some how you can recover your coins using the private key. It is very easy to do this.

If you have your private key you can literally delete all the dash data files and start fresh. Just import your private key into the new fresh wallet.
