Totally messed up after update

Ok, great, we have v12... but I can't do anything now :)

Tao's update guide is disappeared. I have 2 nodes on one VPS with IP binding.
I downloaded the new file, and I substituted it on my VPS (dashd)
I made it executable (chmod 777) and launched it. It worked.

Too bad I don't get if the daemon is running or not. I get the reindex msg, I launch ./dashd -reindex and nothing happens. Everything is stuck and I don't know how to proceed.
I didn't even touch the wallet, I am scared to mess like everything.

Can someone tell me a step-by-step guide for total retards that might work?

man, in first step always watch the debug.log file and you save your and our time)
 
I want to thank AjM for the tip... managed to get all the stuff I needed (plus, I upgraded the servers to 15.04)

Looks like it's working!
