Solo mining

I`m interested if I could solo mine darkcoin ,and how can I do this if you could please help me out,I`m running windows 8 , gpu mining .

You would do it the same as pool mining except you would start your wallet with the -server flag. Then mine to localhost with rpc user name and rpc password that you set in your darkcoin.conf file.

i dont quite understand what are those different difficulties settings...
if i am mining on VPS where cpu gives around 120Khash... which setting is optimal?
