Question: Headless Linux + NVIDIA Mining

I have a semi-old computer I used to game with but am now too busy to play around. It has 16 gigs of ram, an I-5 with a Geforce GTX 760.

I've spent about 12 hours scouring random websites, forums, reading guides but have yet to come across something written after the year 2014 with much significance.

My goal would be to use a spare 64gig SSD running Ubuntu, Mint or some other distro and create a headless X11 Dark Coin miner that I could SSH into to make sure all is well. However, I don't know if this is even possible.

1) What is the best program to use for an NVIDIA card like mine? I keep seeing CCminer and NVminer. Which would work for this setup, or perhaps there's a better option and I should just stick with Windows. I'm open to information. :D

2) Is it possible to do a headless system without a dummy plug? I keep running into this, which I think is an old issue no one deals with anymore...right?

3) I'm new to this whole thing but I'm a fast learner, I just need some guidance as to the best way to go about making this rig into an efficient miner.

NOTE: I live at an on-site management facility. I pay nothing for electricity, internet, water etc. I'd like to turn a few other lazy pc's lying about into CPU miners too.

Which looks like a modded CCminer eh? That's what you're using? What is your native OS btw?

unfortunately for me I had purchased all AMD cards late in 2013 before these miners were available. I have one on ubuntu and one on windows server 2012, the others are still running BAMT...
 
Just a quick heads up.

The sp-Mod version of the miner will NOT work with a 760 (on windows at least). I know - I tried it with my 780 a few weeks back.

The SP-Mod versions are modified to use CUDA6 variants - in other words, the new Maxwell cards. The binaries won't start on Kepler cards like ours.

CCminer 1.5.2 modded by tpruvot works well enough on Kepler cards, my 780 puts out 4800kH/s @ 1097Mhz core. Combined with 6 cores on an FX-8350 (2 reserved to keep the GPU fed and allow browsing & music at the same time) via yam and the workstation maintains a throughput of ~5.4MH/s
 
Hey CarrionBlue, thanks for the input. You're completely right. I spent about 7 hours yesterday trying a ton to get it to work with Ubuntu 14.04 and Windows 7 & 8. No dice.

As for the recommendation of 1.5.2 by tpruvot, well that worked much better. I actually got myself up and running for the pool here on darkcointalk, the problem I'm seeing tough is odd. This is what it looks like:

Not sure, is this same sendlinefail thing happen on different pools? or point it at test net and try and mine to local wallet, can you mine without error?
 
Hey, just seeing your comment now. I have it mining right now! Yay! Figured it out, apparently I had 1 letter in my command line that was off, maybe I'm a bit dyslexic.

Confirmed that the 1.5.2 modded by tpruvot works for a Geforce GTX 760 at about 2000 KH/s. Not amazing, but puts my old system to work, and I'm helping mining.darkcointalk.org.
 
Finally, you use TPruvot with Windows or Ubuntu ?

If it's Ubuntu, I have problems with compilation (GTX 750 / Cuda 7) : have you a tuto ?
