New release imminent?

So, this percentage of unknown nodes has been growing a lot lately and it's taking a whopping 7.2% of all nodes! My assumption has been, these are live tests, a new release is imminent.. but it's also quite telling about the number of nodes owned by core.

Am I making the wrong assumptions?

Core have previously stated their combined holding is under 10% so it wouldn't be that surprising if that was the case.
