Is it possible to "pre-setup" a MN without Funds?

I was hoping to learn how to setup a MN without actually having to use funds to do so, is there anyway I could do this? I just want to learn the process by doing it a few times, so that when the time comes, I can just deploy and run with it that same day/weekend.

Any advice would be helpful! Thanks!

YES! Go to testnet, set up masternodes, test them, get to know how to mess around with them, try to do things you'd normally be too afraid to do with 'em! It's the best place to test everything out. And when you're ready, you can simply change the dash.conf or masternode.conf to direct everything to mainnet. You can grab tdash at one of the faucets, which you can find here and ask questions here. I need to put my android device (I have no android phone :( ) and practice using QR codes to send etc... because I'm not familiar with that. And I'll do it in testnet because I can't lose real money that way :D

You can always use testnet - grab 1000 tDASH from one of the faucets and give it a try.
List of useful testnet resources can be found there: https://dashtalk.org/threads/testnet-tools-resources.1768/
That's exactly what I did before setting up my first MN, and I would recommend it to everyone setting one up.

My first time, I didn't want to screw it up or lose 1000 real Dash. I don't care if I lose 1000 tDash.

You can learn how the MN system works, how to query the list to see if your MN is enabled, etc. Then you won't have to wonder when you set up a real MN, because you'll be familiar with the system.
