The Dash team is pleased to announce the release of an iPhone wallet for Dash based on the popular Breadwallet for Bitcoin. The wallet is deterministic, meaning that it can be restored just by typing in a passphrase. This keeps your Dash secure without requiring complicated and time-intensive backups. Credit goes to QuantumExplorer , who’s done a superb job developing this wallet.
The Dash wallet also integrates Shapeshift.io, allowing users to scan any BTC address from your Dash Wallet and pay straight with Dash (at your local coffee shop who is accepting BTC or wherever). We got into an agreement with Shapeshift.io and they share part of the fee with the Foundation (no increase in fee, they just share it), so by using this feature you will be supporting Dash in an extra way.
Although the iTunes Store is beginning to let more cryptocurrency apps in, the process is still challenging and subjective. Apple frequently denies new cryptocurrency apps without any stated reason, and unfortunately the Dash wallet was rejected by Apple. QuantumExplorer already appealed their decision, but they haven’t changed their mind yet. This is really frustrating, but we will re apply in the near future when we completely understand the reasons behind their rejection. It is their store and they set the rules, so we can’t really force them to accept us.
Until then, we have a self-compile version of the wallet available right away. This is completely legal and no jailbreaking is needed. tungfa has prepared a nice guide with the steps you need to follow. It is not trivial, but it should not be a problem for a community that has set up almost 3400 masternodes.
Instructions on how to do this are included with the source code.
