It was definitely time for some more decentralisation.

Whow, now this is very cool and impressive !

Super Ihr Deutschen !!!

Hey crowning
what page (link) did you use ??
tx

I have the country and city distribution at the bottom of the page at the URL below
http://darkcoin.cm/index/charts/

Location data is updated once every minute for each masternode if the IP changes. Germany is no. 4 on the list
That last pie chart (top 10 hosting companies) is somewhat scary but I console myself that if Amazon or Vultr ever get a C&D order or something, my own MN earnings will increase by about 900% for a while.

I've raised the issue on another thread. We need to find alternative hosting companies to help mitigate this risk and share the hosting companies on this forum

The specialized guides for setting up masternodes need to do without tailoring to vultr or amazon. There is no reason they couldn't show an end-user how to look and find an appropriate vps to host on, further explaining the details of why diversifying hosts is beneficial. Most people just follow the guide verbatim so if the guide says use amazon or vultr, they use it.

People forget how new crypto is and how little helpful information there is out there. Some Linux developers tend to suffer from a bit of elitism and look down on people who don't know how to run a computer via a command line.

Whomever is being helpful to newcomers and has a clear, concise, helpful user interface is going to win all the new business.

I don't think the pie charts are correct, neither country, nor ISP.

The only one that seems legit is the cities charts.

If someone can recommend a decent VPS provider with 2fa and price competitive with Vultr then I will try to move my node. I guess Tao's guide would work anywhere else, wouldn't it?

Absolutely, the only part you need to change is the creation of the instance, but once it is working you should be fine. Three big VPS providers that have a very little presence in the list are Rackspace, Microsoft Azure and HP Cloud. I think Rackspace offers a free server for a year if certain conditions are met, Azure has some free credit and HP offers three months up to a certain value.

We need a page with VPS providers list plus short 'how to' install MN in each (mostly differencies). I can not do it by myself. No appropriate knowledge and language difficulties too...

we have a page !
Darkcoin.guide
balu set it up and needs some help getting content !! I can only encourage everybody to help out on this !!
I will do a community "push" next week for this and try to sort out a plan as with this page we can really get all these issues out of the way and public guides / listings/ ... in a very nice presented way !!
more to come , get ready ...>>

I've also created an overview with the locations and ISPs. No sexy pie charts, but it's quite accurate:
http://178.254.18.153/~pub/Darkcoin/masternode_locations.html

Of course it's also not perfect, that data is only as good as the geo-location-providers which provide it.

I found in a bug in my code that wasn't properly calculating the masternode locations. Germany is indeed no.1 in terms of country and Frankfurt in Germany is also the no.1 city.

Great

Are you 100% sure about the providers?

As far as I now the company behind vultr is Choopa, LLC, and Amazon is, well, Amazon.

In my list they host 337 (=24.05%) and 282 (=20.11%) of the 1402 Masternodes. Do they work under additional ISP-names I don't know of?
