Funding African Bitcoin loans

Hello everybody,

I'm running a project over at Startjoin. Details are here: https://www.startjoin.com/africa The project just went live. You can get more info on me and my past projects there (including my academic.edu page). I've also made a post on BTCJam where the money will be investing: https://btcjam.com/listings/34580-funding-african-bitcoin-loans

You can look at my profile and see all my old loans, etc., and my contributions to that community. Before the project I realised it might be worth asking the community here if they are interested in helping.

You can use shapeshift.io to transfer darkcoin to startcoin for us on startjoin if that suits. Or you can send to the address in my signature if that works easier for you.

Liking your idea pbleak

I wonder though what we get from supporting you? I mean you surely get to spread a good message here but it's basically a fundraiser which redeems me to 0% in anything?

Or are we sharing an equal pot from the lended bitcoins? Or are we lending to those people for free?

Looking forward hearing back :)

All the best,
Vya

The plan is, more or less, to re-invest the interest in those loans that find it harder to gain support. I think it will be self-sustaining for the most part. I'm at the point where this money would not be of much interest to me personally. I'm now a lender myself on Jam in a personal capacity and doing good. As you can see from my Jam profile I am a trader and have done well in the last year so now it's time to think differently.
It's certainly not an investment in the usual sense, but in terms of helping to spread cryptocurrency as an alternative to oftentimes punitive microfinance (with hidden conditions) I think it's a worthwhile ideal. In fact, you can call it quite idealistic. I'll be drawing on the Jam community to discuss which loans seem suspicious and which ones look geniune. There's a lot of possibilities that can spring from it too such as allowing those communities to them embark on similiar crowdfunding projects, combining with other coins (dogecoin have been helpful), and then also possible real-world versions. I guess it's sort of non-profit community work.
At a macro-level I have been thinking, my current research is on Bitcoin, that such projects would also, in time, pay off because the Bitcoin ecosystem would grow as it spreads to developing nations. But yes, Startjoin concepts are without rewards for investors though you can also run projects there too for people who want a return or a gift. Hope that helps explain my thinking. It came out of a discussion at a workshop I had with African guys who were telling me about how predatory microfinance could be and I said, 'hey you guys know about Bitcoin right?' And it went from there!

And thank you for your support! It has blown me away how fast it has gone up.

And, of course, now it hit me that it might be cool to help spread awareness of Darkcoin through such efforts!

Yes, I think we are pooling all on the same strings and concepts here :)

I did recently encounter some research and documentation on how micro-payments and financing can really make a difference in third world countries and people that get heavily censored by their rulers and governors so your cause has a lot of emotional value for me, naturally!

I think it would be great to see the progress first hand though, even if seen by the total available fund-pool :)

Having 1000€ or 10000€ might not mean the world to us but with a 10.000€ capital, you can potentially help a lot of people there to be completely self-sufficient and sustaining, to the level of giving out their own loans to their neighborhood and tribe, which in return will be amazing for the natural growth of the families there!

Pledged a bit on StartJoin and will be following your cause :)

All the best,
Vya

This is how I see it too. We sometimes forgot what a euro or a dollar can mean elsewhere because we do not always see how wealthy we are relative to the rest of the world and even historically! What is great about Startjoin is that you can start it as a concept, OK we see if it works or not, and then we can try it as a project and demonstrate how it works and then there is potential for more funds. Many big groups are doing this at bigger scales, but it hit me recently we can also do it in our little corner of the cryptocoin world. I am reminded of the ad on television here, 'every little helps!'

Yes, it's amazing to see how self-empowering this community really is and it just shows that an organism or group of organism can co-create completely independent of the currently accepted systems of control and enslavement.

I watched an amazing documentary lately and it was telling how equality could be restored in the world if the entire top elite would try to fund the middle class people and then the middle class would fund the lower class to slowly but surely delegate and spread the wealth evenly so at one stage we would all end up in the middle-class.

Some would be higher and lower, naturally, but it would be a fair distribution because all would come to an understanding that nobody could exist in the middle-class forever unless we would help and accumulate wealth and distribute it to our designated targets, allowing us to be free from problems ourselves by freeing others from theirs.

A lot of my research has gone into this to provide a practical example of this first-hand, so I think by being the prime example myself, it would act as a catalyst and contributor and incubator to bring about change in the entire world.

The key is to have a closed circuit cycle. If you can convince someone above you to pour the funds downwards to a larger scheme and then pour those collaborated funds further down into the bottom and from the bottom back up to the middle and from the middle back up to the top, the cycle is complete and everyone benefits and can live out their life according to their own karma and situation :)

I always disliked the fact of communism making everyone equal, instead Equality in your own perception and commodity level is what we should strife and aim for in my humble opinion :)

Anyways, just dropping a few mind-flows your way!

Have a great weekend!

I love every word of this and will have to provide a proper response soon only (mundane life) duty calls. But to say I agree with be a massive understatement.

The concept has now gone live to a project. It raised 490e yesterday. Today I am sure it can be done. The smallest donation you can do is 1e. A Darkcoin costs 1.58e so you can literally send 1 DRK to help!

At 200e today already. Let's see if any of the DRKworld can lend a hand charity wise. Are we different ;)
