Update:

The Campaign has been a success so far! 100 new followers, a contest winner, countless retweets and favs, and a few postings on blogs.

I have garnered interest from a software Dev who would be valuable to the UI project, and have attracted interest from one VC for sure, and another is in touch with me right now.

Please join me on Twitter, spread the word one tweet at a time!

To make a suggestion, you should put a link to the twitter feed in the first post somewhere, and maybe in your signature too.

Hello, everyone, hope you are having a great day, wherever you are!

Just wanted to provide you with an update about how things are going with the Twitter initiative.

The ball is rolling along nicely, I have continued to get posted on blogs, got some followers that appeared to have no previous crypto experience and were interested in the concept, as well as discussions from obvious Bitcoin fans, which were very respectful.

The interest is out there, but I can't make a tremendous impact on my own.

I would like to give special thanks to Tungfa, splawik21, Skillit, Bert Lebbert, Propulsion, and any others who I may not know their twitter handles, who have been very active in assisting me in the initiative. Thanks to Flare and Fernando as well for the occasional retweet, and they are very busy.

The man himself, Evan Duffield has weighed in, and has given us his official blessing:

eduffield: "Yeah, you're doing a great job. I've been watching from afar, but I'm hardly ever on twitter!"

Please, when you get a chance, start a Twitter (or Facebook) account and start singing the praises of Dark whenever you can. The more voices making noise, the better chance we will all be heard!

Have fun with it, use your creativity (follow me for inspiration), and join us in promoting the Darkness whenever you can!

You're doing a great job Tao! Definitely you're creating "DRK awareness"... you've got people thinking, talking, investigating, maybe arguing, hopefully investing, joining the community, etc...

Bit late to the party, been hiding in the charts for a couple months :cool:

Hooked up on twitter, Tao. Been retweeting a couple of things you've posted etc. Think it's time I ramped up the involvement.

I've read through everything here, I have a [little] background in different marketing concepts, nothing too serious, blah. As always, got a counter-productive amount of projects going on atm, but I'll try and aim some focus this way. I'll be using my regular twitter acc as I reckon I'll have better coverage plus I'll try to engage the conversation part (personal choice of strategy as I can fit that sort of action into play time) and relay any questions towards the forum (is the forum a good place to send people, anyone?) and/or relevant links

Is there a specific archive/thread for related material or just btctalk? I've had a look through the press release docs for open source for instance, (titan pad). If not, i'm happy to tweet along the rules all set out above.

Thanks for the 1up on Twitter, Tao. People must be taking notice by now! Lots of regular eye catchers. I think I'll change my profile pic into something more minimal, memorable, too.

Anyone got any metrics or even just a feel on the boy/girl ratio of interest up to now? I'm trying to think of points of interest to the standard bank-using, handbag clutching, not really ever thought about darkcoin kinda girls... Maybe a bit of a stretch although finding the reasons that each demographic pick up info is always the key.

All the info that's flying around the world right now about dark is privacy, anon, great tech, be your own bank and more to that effect. I'm guessing that until much wider adoption is realised plus more user-friendly apps, exchanges etc then perhaps the key is to create talking points to develop word of mouth from our base of interested connections.

Really just thinking out loud here. I bet all this has been said already, lol.

Saying that, "conversation starters" to help bring a wider audience in, is where I'm thinking right now

Everething This is a fantastic idea! I have started with the Old Spice guy, Katy Perry, and Taylor Swift memes, but we could use some more Dark Ladies!

If you have any ideas, I'm behind you 100%!

I'm thinking that your idea, Tao, of the memes, will be more effective, at least in the short term, for planting the seeds for further down the road and is also probably the best we can expect when trying to attract "general" users, boys and girls. Going through the types of conversation [in my mind] I realise that the leap between checking X-Factor results and talking about financial/general privacy then using darkcoin is fairly large. It's massive actually, lol. So, in terms of what to expect from the twitter outputs, in relation to future general users, I'm guessing a meme gorilla-marketing style will basically 'plant some seeds' and play behind the more serious #darkcoin #getintothedark #haveyouseenwhatJulianAssangesaid etc. (basically, continuously chipping away in the background)

If someone that understood the sector and tech, and with a bit of vision, could make some [story] connections - i.e. what will be useful in the future to general users or even companies - then we could spread our uses of twitter more accurately in the short-term and obviously plan better for the long.

So, obviously the first thing that comes to mind is "cats fucking love darkcoin" - spew - just to make sure we're covering the lowest of the low... cough, spit. Banksy, any street-art kinda stuff. Anything alternative culture - it'll bounce right off X-Factor. Future of gaming.

Everething I like the way you think. How would we go about finding these people you speak of? Do you have any ideas for street-art type of tweets? If you post these ideas, you can expect me to RT! Please continue to think outside the box, this will be great for the intiative! This was what I envisioned when I started this, lots of different ideas under the same banner (#getintothedark, #buildthedarkness, #DarkcoinChameleon). It takes a community effort to really make this rock!
