Darkcoin's international expansion

For me it looks like lack of PR and marketing is the main and critical weakness of Darkcoin at the moment.

For example have look to this forum - lots of tech's and trader's discussions. And nothing about it's promotion and awareness' s spreading for ordinary users (not crypto fans, traders, miners and masternode's keepers - but at least for people who may want to invest a little bit in DRK).
IMO lots of new users - is what DarkCoin very needed now...

I think we need to have a special PR-section at the forum - with news, promos, prospects, videos, conferences and so on...

Funny thing - I am trying to lead some people in Russia to DRK - but they don't speak/read English - and www.darkcoin.io is presented only in English. :(
The main "selling point" of DakCoin (Privacy) is mostly demanded in ... let's correlate... look at this map:

So first easy and most effective step - may be to make www.darkcoin.io a multilingual site.

I tried to show a russian the goodness of Darkcoin but he said he was afraid that because crypto currencies are not allowed in Russia he might get in trouble. Is this true?
You can always make your own website and translate darkcoin.io into Russian, with a link to darkcoin.io. I understand most Russians don't speak English, and Google Translate doesn't help, but your English is pretty good, you would help them a lot with your site in Russian.
All of us can do PR for Darkcoin, and so far I think the volunteers (tungfa, Minotaur, vertoe.... ) have done a great job. I am trying on my part as well, alongside with helping Testnet. We'll get Darkcoin known globally soon!

Till the end on 2014 cryptos in Russia are "not recommended", but not prohibited. In 2015 we will see - but there are so many things that are prohibited - but still lots of people find ways of using it in Russia. When you are "small fish" - as usual nobody cares what you are doing. But if you begin to spoil somebody's "big fish"'s business - lots of law immediately will be found against you.

I think all such prohibitions will be the reason why DarkCoin will finally become more popular than BitCoin in countries like China, Russia, ... :)

So people will not use coins to buy something on streets (like they don't use gold coins now) - but will use cryptos to saving money and to sending it between friends, partners and so on...

Yes it is possible "in principle" but will be amateur and can scare big percentage of potential users (too many scams, MLMs, Hypes, bankruptcies have happened last years here. Imagine you are trying to promote Citibank with your homepage ;) ). So professional product and professional promotion are highly appreciated to get trust. I guess the same story with China.

Yes, I agree that Darkcoin will become very popular in countries like China and Russia... But it has to be by natives who can speak the languages fluently to promote Darkcoin by "word-of-mouth" ("сарафанное радио, из уст в уста"?) (I've tried to learn Russian, too difficult... :) )
And I'm sure once Evan is done with the development we will see more official PR. Right now it's just up to miners, users, and investors to promote Darkcoin, but we can do it.

The new darkcoin.io was only finished a few days ago. In fact, there are still things that need some improvement. One of the things that we looked for when working on it is that the theme and plugins were compatible with a very widely extended one used for multilingual sites. I fully agree that we need to open ourselves to the rest of the world and translating the website is the first step. I'll look into it again and will see with Evan if we can set up a test site with a copy of darkcoin.io site to try to tackle this.

Who's in? and for what languages? I understand:

alex-ru can do Russian
elgringo can do Dutch
I can do Spanish
I know we have many people from different nationalities and languages, but I don't want to include anybody in the list without their consent. They may feel more attracted towards other projects and that is ok

BTW, alex-ru, CCDEK, the Danish exchange that we have announced today, offers DRK to Ruble directly. They don't have any volume yet, but it would be amazing to help them develop that market. They already have the trading platform translated to Russian. If you have any ideas on how to help it would be amazing. If you are up to it we can even organize some meeting or emailing with their CEO.

I can do Vietnamese but not well, when it comes to technical terminology I need Google Translate, so I hope someone can take the job, but in the mean time I can help some.

Great! technical terms are difficult to translate to any language!

If Darkcoin could attract 2 persons: somebody like Andreas M. Antonopoulos for English + somebody same brilliant for Chinese market - Darkcoin will be undisputed winner forever.

Good, I will.

In fact, I think they need to solve just 2 problems:
1. To avoid legal problems with direct working with rubles - they will need to issue some
intermediate substitute - "tokens" - so there will be no prohibited direct trade
rubles-cryptocurrencies.
2. To attract volumes - get some trust, reputation, ... not easy task in fact. Are you ready to leave your coins there? I am not yet.

But if they strongly want to earn good money - I believe they can do everything.

If we could attract Antonopoulos we all would be superfluous, that would be enough :)

I'll pass your comment about tokens to them. I'd say they have probably done some legal research, but you never know! I would have no problem with leaving some coins there, my problem is that I don't want to sell them, so no use for them.

Great effort guys
really good news so many people stepping up ! Very cool !
If we would develop darkcoin.io in different languages and could use the same people to translate
Press Releases + Stories in the future that would be AMAZING !!

This might be a sort of funny question, but would an Esperanto translation be useful? Or simply a novelty?

I was under the impression that the esperanto project was basically dead, but maybe I'm wrong... Do you speak it? If you do, I guess you must know that community, and if translating the website would bring people in. If you want to tackle it, feel free. As soon as we go for the translation project we can add as many languages as we want.
