Hi Dash Nation!
I have an update for everyone regarding this project:
Eralith Studios has had a busy 2018, and we want to thank everyone for their continued support, as well as congratulate the DAO on the continued success of new and ongoing proposals.
We’ve been relatively quiet in the past few months regarding our Dash project, in equal parts due to waiting for the right conditions to distribute the Border Free Love commercial, as well as growing our Cape Town studio full-time and experiencing other forms of career growth.
This resulted in the paid distribution of Border Free Love being pushed back further than we wanted. A few factors contributed to this delay:
- A persistent bear market for most of 2018 led us to delay converting the distribution budget of 300 DASH into fiat, as we were waiting for the market to recover and get the maximum value out of the Dash we were allocated.
- Our targeted release window was intended to hit at the same time as a complete Evolution wallet, and we were holding out to use this as an advertisement for a 1.0 version of an official Evolution wallet. We will now promote the existing Dash wallet instead.
- Facebook and Google banned cryptocurrency ads on their platform right after we finished production, with only some parts of the bans being walked back over the course of several months.
- Our deal with our talent agency meant if we waited to officially distribute the ad on a large scale, we could get more mileage out of the funds spent licensing the actors as we technically have a year of broadcast rights.
- The developing situation of Dash in Latin America has shifted our focus.
With the reduced value of our distribution budget, our new strategy entails:
- Run a small Facebook campaign, and then deposit all distribution funds once the ads are approved for the platform.
- Focus 100% of our distribution budget on targeting Venezuelan, Colombian and other Latin American consumers until the 1st of April, pending a usage extension by the talent agency.
- Provide the existing Spanish, Portuguese and Filipino translations of the ad free for community use and viral marketing.
Overall, we are extremely grateful that we were able to produce a high-quality commercial at the peak of the market, and going forward we’re excited to officially get this out there in front of thousands of consumers.
