bitpay ready to ditch bitcoin, should dash court them ?

Must be so painful for them to finally admit that their maximalism failed. Excuse me while I find some salt to rub into their wounds. But yes, I really feel that bitcoin cash is more sister than foe, so I see no logical reason why they shouldn't add dash. Let's hope someone in biz dev is on this.

We should offer them a one million dollar payment to add dash! The Treasury can easily afford this and it would be huge for DASH. At the end of the day, Bitpay is a business and are financially motivated.
We should do the same for Coinbase.

If such a fee were to be paid, it must be as a one time only deal. I would hate for Dash to be held over a barrel every year... "Pay us $1M or you're out!"

Most certainly a one time fee, I think a good cash injection into their business is enough to buy the spot for a long time. We could offer to fund for integration as well. Once they have the integrated code for DASH why would they ever remove it?

Yes, you're probably right. I just don't like the thought of being open to blackmail. However, once Dash is more widely adopted, there would be a business case for keeping us on board anyway!

I guess I'm just saying we should be cautious and not throw the Treasury Funds around with carefree abandon. For it is surely true that 'a fool and his money are soon parted.' {ahem, Charlie Shrem.}

Yes, your right, money should not be thrown around willy-nilly, however, taking an educated chance is better than doing nothing at all or very little. As it stands the budget is not being used to its fullest.
With the right rules put in place and maybe a contract between the proposal owner and "Bitpay" things could be legally binding.
Of course a well known and high standing person in dash should be the proposal owner here.

as much as i love that idea, we shouldnt make it sound like a bribe

I see no evidence that Bitpay is courting other cryptos... They're hardcore on the band-aid bandwagon...

We should really start the discussion.

No. This needs action NOW.

Opportunity doesn't knock on Ryan's and Evan's schedule. They both think they can tell the universe to take a number and wait for them... This extreme level of arrogance has been holding DASH back for years.

It's time to drop your cocks and grab your socks.

You need to capitalize on the opportunity the market has handed you.

Immediately.

Or someone else will.

Again.

"Fate rarely calls upon us at a moment of our choosing." - Optimus Prime

"Aw, jeez, it's not convenient for opportunity to be knocking right now, guess I'll just have to let it pass me by. Again. Still." - DASH

Is DASH making a move to help them integrate?
Well, we offered them whatever help they need to integrate Dash but so far no requests from them afafik. I think they are not going to reveal which blockchains are chosen ahead of time and their investigation will probably take months, so I wouldn't be neither hyped by these news (BCH), nor disappointed by the fact that that's basically it. On a positive note - we have BitPay's fork of Bitcoin Core with additional indexes (addressindex, spentindex, timestampindex) integrated in Dash Core, we have their open source JS libs dashified (https://insight.dash.org/ and soon(tm) a fork of Copay). So all they need from us from code perspective is already there and it's ready to use, they might not need any additional help from us at all. On yet another positive note - we have few years of development and growth, we can fund any resources needed for integration and/or provide direct help on both C++ and JS side, we are not some PnD coin or ICO with no product, we are sitting in top10 for a long time - I really hope all of this won't be unnoticed

In general, it's clear that the space is changing. Bitcoin fees are ruining Bitcoin's dominance and merchant acceptance. With Blockstram devs celebrating high fees with champaign, it's most likely that there will be no solution for merchants in Bitcoin's land i.e. no blocksize increase in 2018. Merchants and payment providers just can't sit and wait for years for some unproved offchain solution to magically solve high fees, they need to act now. I think we just need a bit of patience. Keep calm and carry on ;)

Its not an issue from technical prespective, rather marketing / business dev angle. we need comments from someone from the dash business dev team if possible

Does someone in the community have a contact they can approach with the idea of BitPay putting in a proposal to the DASH community to buy the spot? They are a business and to all business money talks louder than anything!

DASH has the ability to buy the spot so lets use that ability.
