Average bandwidth/traffic per Masternode

For those of you poor souls  who plan to set up a Masternode at a pay-per-traffic provider:

right now with version v0.10.15.17 and about 1000 exisiting Masternodes, the average traffic per day is about 1.5 GB in and 1.5 GB out.
Maybe less if you have a slow connection, and getting more of course when more Darksend™ mixing will be done.

You may want to consider this in your calculations.

Edit: with v0.10.15.21 the bloom filters reduce the traffic by more than 50%, so the numbers are about 750 MB in and 750 MB out

Per day? I'm averaging about 7GB/month on each of mine.

Yep, per day. I guess the available bandwidth is the limiting factor for yours.

Mine have GB-network and sit near the largest network node word-wide, that's probably the difference.

Doesn't result in more payments, though

No, I have a 1TB monthly cap and a fat pipe. Was running about the same 7GB give or take a bit when I had them on Amazon too, but that was costly.

Avg is about 20-30kB/sec in and out per MN for the last 7 days according to the host stats.

Strange. Below is my traffic from yesterday of an instance having 3 Masternodes, blockchain download was weeks ago, only ports 9999, SSH and NTP open, only services running are darkcoind, SSHD and NTP:

Remembering to multiply seconds in an hour by the number of hours in the day does indeed lead to more accurate numbers!

In my defence- no, I've got nothing.

Installed v0.10.15.21, the new bloom filters do indeed reduce the traffic by more than 50%, so the numbers are now about 750 MB in and 750 MB out

Update: right now with about 1200 Masternodes the average traffic per day (for mine) is 3 GB in and 3 GB out.

Do the bloom filters still bloom?

v0.10.16.11 looks much better regarding bandwidth usage. v15 had a flaw in dsee/dseep propagating, which was flooding the network and cause high bandwidth.

We'll see how v16 performs when we are back at 1200 nodes though :)

@crowning your favorite n00b here. are the numbers (bandwidth) still similar? I am trying to formulate an idea and would also like to understand something else so forgive my ignorance. Is it possible to elevate existing Dash protocol / MN Network to another level and use it for any other data exchange including i.e. video?

About 2GB in and out per day is already a lot of traffic, when you're doing video it's usually (depends of usage of course) 10x as much.
You would most probably pay some more to your hosting service for that.
