290x vs gtx 780 ti

i want to build a 3-6 card rig starting with one card and adding as i can afford.
everything i have read says that the NVIDIA GTX 780ti wins out except for the following wiki:

according to this the hash rates are insane on the radeons and no other cards come close.
what gives? how can i decide what cards to buy?
 
The chart you linked is for mining scrypt. Drk uses x11. On most algorithms the radeons are much faster than nvidia cards, however I'm not sure what the current situation for x11 is. If you plan on mining non-x11 coins also, the radeons will likely be more useful.
