12.1 Testnet Testing Phase Two Ignition

Anyone running any liquidity providers? Mixing isn't going very well so far, but I haven't been testing long, and I'm only using 1 node right now.

12.1 Testnet Testing Phase Two Ignition

Ran the voting script from my dedicated tMN running v0.12.1.0-b9bd116. Returned 4 "Governance object not found!" failures, but also many successes. tMN has been running for close to 48 hours. Quick scanning of the debug.log indicates things are generally fairly healthy. About to start testing...

How often does Evan show up and answer questions?

Thanks for the github links @nmarley. Been enjoying going over the sentinel commits. Can't help but wonder what code @eduffield has been working on lately? I find it nearly impossible that his github activity (https://github.com/evan82?tab=activity) reflects what he's been up to lately. ;)

    OpenBazaar DASH fork?

The thread starts off with a lot of debate, but ends with quite a bit of useful technical discussion. If you're familiar with Go, then I suggest coordinating with @flare. Good luck! :)

    OpenBazaar DASH fork?

It will definitely involve a significant amount of work. Some good assessments and discussion on this topic can be found here. https://www.dash.org/forum/threads/open-bazaar-integration-pre-proposal.8742/

Apple vs. Dash: The Importance of Privacy

@ericsammons I like your article, but did Apple really say something about the privacy features? From what I understand, DASH simply isn't on their list of approved cryptocurrencies at this time. The whole situation seems pretty ridiculous to me, especially given the fundamentals of some that...

How often does Evan show up and answer questions?

Most of the work they're doing right now isn't in public view. I'm sure quite a few git commits will come soon though. :)

    V12.1 Testnet Launch Thread

Given the latest testing release is dated Aug 17th, I wouldn't say his estimate was off. That said, I'm really hoping to see a new testnet release this weekend!

    V12.1 Testnet Launch Thread

A few posts back I mentioned that the working directory (-datadir) has changed from ".dash" to ".dashcore". That change probably explains your confusion. Really eager to start testing all this new code, but it seems they're still not quite ready for us. :(

    Payment Enforcement

The spork switches allow us to develop improvements to the consensus protocol without risking hard forks that require all nodes to update their code. These cryptographic switches will be removed/disabled once the protocol improvements mature. Also, MN payment enforcement has been back on for...

    Dash wallet

As long as you're sure you have a proper backup of the wallet (HD key), then I would try to install the latest testing release from Hash Engineering (it has a lot of bug fixes). If you want to be extra careful before trying this, then go to Settings -> Diagnostics -> Show xpub and store that...

    Dash wallet

So you are using the wallet from Hash Engineering @Jyoung? If so, did you back up your wallet? It reminds you to do this every time you start it until you do. Definitely do not uninstall the app if you haven't created a wallet backup.

Are ring signatures still going to be implemented?

It was considered, but ultimately decided against in favor of off-chain mixing. Personally, I would still like to see MN blinding implemented, especially given most of that code has already been written, but I suspect we will also see additional privacy layers in Evolution.

    Dash wallet

Dashcoin was not started to troll/cause problems (although some have certainly been trying to leverage it for that). https://www.dash.org/forum/threads/official-statement-on-rebranding-to-dash.4297/ That having been said, we do need additional details to attempt to assist you @Jyoung.

    V12.1 Testnet Launch Thread

Should I build the latest git myself, or wait on another official test release? Feeling a bit impatient. In part because I've been working hard to make more time to help out lately. :)

Proposal: Infrastructure - Liquidity Providers (Sept)

Indeed you have stated your position clearly, but that doesn't make it valid. Given your responses, you still don't seem to understand the point I was making. There's a reason that top agencies requiring privacy make assessments on how long they expect a given algorithm and key size to remain...

Proposal: Infrastructure - Liquidity Providers (Sept)

If mixing stalled completely, then you probably hit the bug I was referring to. Restarting with -zapwallettxes=1 should get it going again. XMR is only as anonymous as ring signatures are. It's highly likely that in the not too distant future this cryptography will be broken (by quantum...

Proposal: Infrastructure - Liquidity Providers (Sept)

What is this claim based on? There is at least 1 bug that slows mixing down in v0.12.0.x for sure, but I'm inclined to think your assessment is going a bit too far.

    Stuck Transaction

So glad you're actually using a trusted wallet! The hyphenated part of your post made me fear the worst. The DASH support in Jaxx is quite new, so it wouldn't surprise me if there are a few bugs in it at this point. I would check their FAQ for any clues as to how you can deal with this problem...

    Stuck Transaction

Sadly, it sounds like you've fallen for a hot wallet scam. https://www.dash.org/forum/threads/www-dash-wallet-com-is-a-scam-website.8267/ Never trust any wallets except ones on the https://www.dash.org/downloads/ page. If you are using one of those, please provide additional details so we can...
