    Reply to Kristov's paper

For the record, I have never been pumped and dumped by a whale.

    Reply to Kristov's paper

Agreed. I apologise if I come across overly negative sometimes. I used to work for a venture capital company that specialised in technology startups. I just can't get it out of my head that PR and comms should be a continual part of a project rather than something that happens from launch. I...

    Reply to Kristov's paper

I believe that too. I'm not questioning the project or Evan's will to deliver. I'm just trying to say that imho we're not blowing our own trumpet enough. And when we do blow our own trumpet, we're playing freestyle jazz and putting off the punters ;)

    Reply to Kristov's paper

Every small step that Evan and the community makes without pitching the success at Joe or Jane Average is a missed opportunity to lure in the lurkers.

    Reply to Kristov's paper

eduffield I have a nagging concern. Last night I got a friend with no altcoin knowledge but with a fairly good grasp of consumer computing to read both Kristov's paper and your response. In my friends opinion he felt that Kristov had identified several major flaws in Darkcoin and that you...

    Addnode in darkcoin.conf

Thanks mate. A clear and concise explanation. I'm wondering whether there is anything to be gained by adding my masternodes to each other's conf files. I can't think of a way that would be beneficial...

    Addnode in darkcoin.conf

Can anybody tell me what the benefit of including similar to the following in your darkcoin.conf files? Addnode= XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX Addnode= YYY.YYY.YYY.YYY Addnode= ZZZ.ZZZ.ZZZ.ZZZ I can see from the documentation that this attempts to keep connections alive to the specified nodes...but why is...

    v0.10.13.x RC5 Testing

Kristov was clear to say that he was observing testnet and not mainnet. Odd that he didn't highlight this partial mitigation.

COMPLETE MASTERNODE GUIDE (WINDOWS LOCAL + LINUX REMOTE @VULTR)

Yes, it is possible. Firstly, backup your existing wallet! (I accidentally overwrote a wallet trying this) I run 5 masternodes so I have five subdirectories under User/Appdata/Roaming/Darkcoin called MN1, MN2, MN3, MN4, MN5 Create these folders empty. Create a shortcut to QT and edit the...

COMPLETE MASTERNODE GUIDE (WINDOWS LOCAL + LINUX REMOTE @VULTR)

Be wary of my explanations as I am still trying to fully understand the fundamentals of this technology myself. I have a dangerous amount of knowledge with a load of big gaps in the middle. However, the masternodeprivkey that is in both of your conf files in a local cold - remote masternode is...

COMPLETE MASTERNODE GUIDE (WINDOWS LOCAL + LINUX REMOTE @VULTR)

I think you're confusing your masternode key and your wallet private key (wallet password). Without the wallet password, nobody is getting any funds from your cold wallet.

    ec2 multiple remote nothing MN(max 5)

Some observations. Chaeplin's guide is really good. These are the two things I learned: 1) Look out for the typos in his iptables...there are couple of whitespaces missing ;) 2) If any of the IPs cannot be assigned, the whole allocation as defined in rc.local fails. In my case, I spent...

    v0.10.13.x RC5 Testing

Its a well written post. I guess it comes back to trying to imagine using Darkcoin as a complete newcomer.

    v0.10.13.x RC5 Testing

I've had a few crashes/terminations on Mac OSX 10.9.4. Both times the QT was running in the background and I was in another app. Would it be practical for me to snapshot and replicate one of the client instances? Surely each one would only need a little tweak on launch... That way I could...

    Questions about the logging facility

If it helps, I have been deleting log files every few weeks with no ill effects. I really want to get a better understanding of the log files too.
