PoS vs PoW question: What is the advantage to PoW?

Hi,

I'm a bit new to bitcoin, and new to Dash. I've already got some masternodes running and I'm excited to be a part of this community :).

Quick question: What is the advantage of PoW over PoS? I'm a believer that there are generally always tradeoffs, but I don't understand what advantage PoW has.

The big problem with PoS is the "nothing at stake" problem. In the event of a fork or doublespend event, all nodes are incentivized to vote for all possible competing versions of the blockchain. Nothing is at stake--there is no cost to continue forging on every possible chain. With PoW, you have to pick one chain to mine, because mining is expensive and you are thus incentivized to mine only on the chain you believe to be legitimate (the one you think will win).
