Lots of small transactions in blockchain: bug or normal behaviour?

My wallet for daily use has a couple of receiving addresses (mining pools, exchanges, etc.).

For each address I can use the official blockchain explorer and see (roughly) the date and time when the transaction happened.

Today I sent from this wallet 1000 DRK to a new wallet to build my first Masternode.

When I NOW look at the bockchain each(!) of the receiving addresses has a couple of outgoing transactions with identical timestamps and with the amount of formerly received transactions. All add up to the sending amount of 1000 DRK.

I would have expected ONE large outgoing transaction from one address (or if the address doesn't hold enough coins, one per address until 1000 DRK is reached), not hundreds of old transactions re-used for spending.

Is this behaviour correct?
