Installation of Core wallet 12.0.58 on Linux 16.04 64bit

Hello,

I tried to install the Core wallet on my Linux 16.04, but when I extract the Dash-QT file on my desktop, I noticed that it's shown as a binary file and not es a executable file that I could just run. I could now run the commands to make it a executable file, as written for Electrum installation: https://dashpay.atlassian.net/wiki/display/DOC/Install

But since I'm not an expert and this is not something I would to experiment on my own, I taught maybe it's good to ask on the forum for some advice, how to make a proper installation for this client on my OS.

Cheers,
Luke

Hi Luke,

welcome to the forum. We have recently added Ubuntu repositories to faciliate the installation on Ubuntu Linux so installation is as easy as doing

Code:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:dash.org/dash
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install dashd dash-qt

now. Maybe you'd like to give it a try and report back.

Thanks for the help Holger!

I had a loading issue with my Ubuntu 16.06 and just for curiosity I tried it out on the new Linux Mint 18 version, which is a fork of Ubuntu. And it worked perfectly fine :)
