Dash Founder on Super Bowl Ad: “Dash Can Afford This”

Dash’s founder quipped that the coin “can afford” a Super Bowl advertisement, highlighting the power of Dash’s treasury.

A post on /r/Bitcoin, the larger Bitcoin subreddit, noted the cost of a single second of airtime for advertising during American football’s Super Bowl, and presented a hypothetical donation scheme that would over two seconds of airtime to promote Bitcoin:

Hi Tungfa, just a quick response. Regarding Super Bowl you really need to speak to Evan as he is responsible for the comment and origin of article.

If you do truly feel that strongly about it, it might be wise to speak to Ryan as well to avoid him mentioning it in future Dash presentations as he has done in the past.

Respectfully, based on your reaction, you have gone from 0 to 100 and I can only assume totally misunderstood the point or content of the article which was to highlight the potential of the Dash treasury budget system. The Super Bowl ad was used as just a metaphor based on Evans comment not a proposal suggestion.

I appreciate and agree 100% with your message about Ogilvy. I'm also looking forward to their future marketing plans etc. However I must stress please do take the time to actually read the article in full not just the title before jumping to conclusions and posting comments like this. It shows a real lack of attention to detail. You completely missed the point of article which was to compare funding potential between Dash and Bitcoin. Evan planted the seed, we just poured water on it.

There is no need to overreact when there is nothing to react too. The caps, punctuation and emotional language in your comment is based on a manifestation of speculation not the actual content of article.

I really don't want to upset or provoke you. As always I wish to lend my efforts in unison with Dash Core. I just wanted to clearly establish the reasoning behind article so there was no room for error or misunderstanding. This is clearly not a proposal, this is an analogy to compare one governance and funding model against another. Nothing more, nothing less.

Best wishes,

Mark

If you read the article it does not encourage such an ad. It uses a comment from Evan to illustrate how massive Dash's treasury has become, and what a competitive advantage it gives over the competition.

Remember: both Evan and Ryan have publicly mentioned Dash being able to pay for a Super Bowl ad, several times, some in public speeches. This is not new at all. If you have a problem with this, you should take it up with them.

One last time: this article merely mentions what Dash Core's highest (past and present) members have said as an example of how large Dash's budget is.
