I fixed the problem by deleting %appdata%\Electrum-DASH and restarting the wallet.

When I try to open Electrum-DASH it gets stuck Synchronizing forever. There is no progress bar (should there be one?) How long should I expect to wait. Since electrum is a thin client I was expecting the wait to be very short. I am using version 2.9.3.1 I last opened my wallet about 2 years...
