In the past, DCG said they paid their developers in fiat i.e. they sold dash to pay them a set, reliable salary. The idea being that job security was more important than the fluctuation of the dash price. I assume this is still the case and they haven't switched to dash only payments i.e. the incentives to increase the value of their "company shares" was gone.

You suggest developers wouldn't work for free yet there are many projects that do just that. I'm not saying they deserve nothing but they should have the right incentives, not simply a salary. I get it, we all got bills to pay and some of these jobs are typically highly paid in a commercial setting, I am not ignorant to that.

But what is plain wrong is an environment of entitlement. The dash treasury functions like the social shite of the UK with it's "free healthcare" or social benefits for the unemployed; "why should I work for X hours and Y pay when I can SIT ON MY ARSE ALL DAY and still get paid?". People milking the system to their own selfish needs. Getting sick notes from their doctors for disability money, or running side jobs thinking they're never get caught.. because the government is corrupt as well, right? Well yes, all centralized governments are corrupt and for the UK, the only way to expand their "free healthcare" is to steal more money in taxes.. which in itself has limits, whereas the free market has no such limits or fake rules promoting one group while ignoring another. AND in a truly free market, the government paying more for their workers to steal them from the private sector. Ah yes, great use of the tax payers money, that's what I call value!! (some sarcasm there)

Honestly, it's the most fucked up thing ever and it's hard to see that when you're on the inside looking out.

Or can we say that fake economy "minimum wage" forcing companies to hire fewer people even if someone is willing to work for less? Because something is better than nothing. Ah yeah, the british have a word for that.. "slave labour". Oh okay, but it's okay to outsource to china or Bangladesh, right?

Now, correct me if I'm wrong but DCG did actually function for many years on the arbitrary number of 10% of the block reward. When they went broke, they bribed MNOs to pump their own bags to that other arbitrary number of 20%, which - just like the great british health service - spending got filled out again and is never quite enough. E-n-t-i-t-l-e-m-e-n-t.

So, what are the incentives for DCG to function that they actually think about producing things people want that will in turn make them profitable and independent.. or should I say not dependent and corrupt? Instead of being parasites.. sorry, harsh words but that's exactly what they are because the idea of being profitable is completely absent for them. And yes, in my past I have sponsored small events to promote dash and never once went to the treasury to ask for a refund.
Your'e conflating quite a few things, and the political stuff is fine, I understand the frustration. It's probably quite difficult from the inside, and perhaps you could apply that EXACT same logic to your own point of view?

I'm not going to touch the political "UK is a mess" topic as I think there is SOOOO much going into that statement that underlines the experience of certain people recently thats not even worth getting into, but I will say, Civilisation and Humanity should have metrics such as compassion as their marks for success. It's fine to yell "IT'S MINE" if you like, but people will naturally try to help each other, its in our nature.

Anyway as ever ThankYou so much for your reply, and your consistent energy input, edgy in style though it is.

As I said the proof is in the pudding, if you think people are prepared to work for free, then PLEASE bring them.

As for the arbitrary nature, I'll agree with your point, why was the first 10% there, the only counter argument was that at the time there was no value to that 10%, now there is value, and wiping half of it would be pretty harsh. I think the proposal needs more thought and examples of how it would be implemented, one thing nobody likes is uncertainty and there was far too much in this proposal for me personally.

Lets end on a positive. Thankyou for your comments man, really.

🎥 DAO Watch Episode 38 – Dash in Peru + Community Discussion

Hey Dash community 👋

In this latest episode of DAO Watch, we take a close look at the proposal by CGeorge to represent Dash at the Peru Blockchain Conference 2024 🇵🇪. We break down the deliverables, budget, and what this kind of exposure could mean for Dash in the LATAM region — a place where we've historically had a strong footprint.

I also touch on the challenges of quantifying marketing ROI in DAO proposals, and why I think Latin America still holds big potential for Dash as a decentralized currency.
